3 Types of Sweat-Absorbent Headband Material: Cotton VS. Polyester VS. Silicone

What type of sweat-absorbent headband material is the best? Cotton? Polyester? Silicone? Here I’d like to share my using experience with you. To customize your own sweat headband, please visit bdseamless.com.

Running in the summer is extremely uncomfortable due to the high temperature and sultry sweat flowing into the eyes along the forehead. Fortunately, a headband can alleviate the discomfort caused by sweat. Although the headband is a small accessory that is ignored by most people, its role is self-evident. Here I’d like to share my experience of using headbands made of three different types of materials.

Sweat-Absorbent Headband Material: PUMA cotton

Sweat-Absorbent Headband Material: UA polyester

Sweat-Absorbent Headband Material: Adidas siliconeheadband material

Practicality of Headband Material

The main function of the headband is to absorb sweat. Of course, for nearsighted people, you can also fix the glasses, which is not detailed here. The sweat absorption principle of the three materials of the headband is not the same.

Puma cotton headband (76% cotton, 20% nylon, 4% elastane), mainly relying on cotton to absorb sweat, the whole headband is basically like fished out of water after a game. Sweat-absorbing effect is good, basically no need to wipe the sweat on the forehead during running. Of course there will still be some sweat on the cheeks.

UA polyester fiber headband, whose main component is polyester fiber, is officially advertised as a high-performance porous fiber, which helps sweat drain away from the body surface. This principle is somewhat similar to quick-drying clothes. The sweat absorption effect is acceptable, and there is basically no sweat flowing to the eyes during running, but it is not as crisp as the cotton head. After running, there was some sweat on the headband, but it was not very wet. After all, it had a quick-drying effect.

Adidas silicone headband( 90% polyester, 8% spandex, 2% silicone), is a silicone band embedded in the middle of the fiber. This headband has a small width, and it is basically impossible to rely on the sweat absorption capacity of the fiber. It relies on the silicone to conduct sweat.

In the process of running, I obviously feel that there is less sweat on the front of the forehead, but there is a lot of sweat in the hair on the back of the head. When there is more, I can feel the sweat flowing down the neck and back. The silicone headband is not very elastic. The silicone sticks tightly to the skin, and there is a mark on the forehead when it is taken off. It depends on the sweat flowing to the back along the silicone strip, which also has a good effect.

Sweat absorption and conduction: cotton headband>polyester fiber headband>silicone headband

Comfort of Headband Material

The Puma cotton headband is slightly tight, it will look thicker after sweating a lot, and it will be hotter in summer. UA polyester fiber headband has better elasticity and is more comfortable to wear, but it will also be a little stuffy. Adidas silicone headband has a relatively small width, so it will not look hot when worn, and is more comfortable for summer. When the weather is hot, I usually wear a silicone headband.

Comfort: Silicone headband>Polyester fiber headband>Cotton headband

Decoration Function of Headband Material

When it comes to pretending to be cool, of course the bigger the better, otherwise how can others see it. So you should buy a big one with a big logo, bring it upright, and put it on your forehead. One more thing, you need to be cautious about acting cool.

Decoration: Bad reviews on silicone headband.

Summary of 3 Types of Headband Material

For summer running without much sweat, I personally think that choosing a silicone headband is more comfortable. Of course, everyone has their own hobbies. As long as the headband can wick away sweat and is a nice decoration, just pick one that you like.
